L&V Secret Pal Package!
I feel so spoiled! She already sent me a gift certificate to The Loopy Ewe (which I promptly spent on 2 skeins pictured farther down in this blog entry), and now this great package! I can’t wait to drink the coffee ~ YUM! and the dark chocolate pistachio toffee pieces look *delicious.* And the yarn! Fabulous :) A big thank you to Michelle for a wonderful package.

And a closeup of the adorable stitch markers she sent:

I mentioned yesterday about my recent sock yarn buying frenzy. Here’s what I’ve been buying:

Have you been watching Lost?? This week’s episode was an awesome one! I KNEW Juliet was a liar, I just knew it! I can’t wait to re-watch this one after Jason gets back from his business trip. I always watch them twice, I’m such a Lost-freak! I watch it the first time, usually on Thursday night since it’s on so late, Then I listen to the podcasts, and get the easter eggs, then watch again to find the references.

Horcrux

Horcrux Cast on
Here are my Horcrux socks. I decided to go ahead and use the Scout Swag Socktober colorway. The yarn is a thinner fingering weight than I’ve been working with recently, but it’s very nice to knit with and the colorway is amazing in my opinion.

I want to thank my L&V Secret Pal for the great knitting cd she made me. I listened to it yesterday, and you did a great job picking out music I like!

I finished Friday Night Knitting Club, and it did not end how I expected it to at all, however I still don’t think I liked the way it ended… sheesh I’m picky, aren’t I? Minnie filled me in on the fact that it’s being made into a movie with Julia Roberts. I’ll definitely be seeing it!

For anyone who’s reading this, can you send some positive vibes my way for the next week or so? I would certainly appreciate it, and can use any positive thoughts you might send my way.

Pinwheel

Here’s the progress on my pinwheel. Actually, I’m a tad farther now. I knit 8 rows of the dark blue and then switched back to the lighter blue and am going to do a few purl rows. Now I just need to figure out how many purl rows I need to do to prevent curling…

Lost update- It’s getting better and better! I can’t WAIT for next week’s episode already. This season, especially after the winter break they did is fantastic.
To the person who searched to find my blog with the words “horrid temp job” I’m sorry– I’ve definitely been there!
To the person who searched “chucks blue” did you mean Converse All-Stars chucks? Man I loved those shoes. I had two low top pair–one in black and another in burghundy and I wore both pair completely out. I duct taped them up (for decoration, not function) and wrote all over them. Sigh. Those wonderful days of youth. LOL
If you didn’t mean Converse All Star chucks, then you may need to see a doctor if you’re “chucking blue.” Ick.

Thanks L&V sp for the postcard! I definitely needed a little cheer in my mailbox yesterday, and your postcard brightened my day :)

Classy Slip Up progress and Yarn Pr0n

March 1, 2007

Here’s my progress on the Classy Slip Up sock from Knit Socks! I’m pretty happy with them, even though I’ve made a few mistakes.  That’s what happens when you’re knitting on a sock while waiting at the doctor’s office for lots of fertility testing.  Sigh.  No real updates on that front.  We’re seeing a specialist now, and there’s lots of testing to go through.  Mostly bloodwork so far, but I also have a HSG scheduled for next week.  Not looking forward to that.  The doctor thinks I have PCOS, but we won’t know until the bloodwork comes back for sure.  If I do, I may have to low-carb it, which will be difficult for me.  I love my bread, pasta and potatoes.  Blah.  Anyway.

LnV Yarn Pr0n Exchange Questions

1. What kind of fibers do you prefer?
Superwash wool for socks in anything but pastels. I’m not a big pink person generally, but if it’s part of a variegated, handdyed colorway then that’s fine. I love brights and jewel tones– anything super-saturated with color.  I’m on a small project kick, so socks are my main focus right now, but I’ve been known to knit other things, too ;)

2. What kind of weight do you prefer (sock, worsted, bulky)?
Currently sock– usually fingering weight.  I don’t use much bulky, but like dk-worsted for sweaters, hats and scarves.

3. Do you spin?
Yep yep!

4. Do you crochet?
Nope

5. Are there any books, patterns, magazines would you like to own that you don’t? See my wishlists

6. Are you participating in any themed a-longs like the Project Spectrum?
Yep– see my Sidebar. I’m in Project Spectrum, Stashalong, and Sock Madness

7. Do you have a wishlist on Amazon.com or Half.com? (provide a link)
Amazon link

Wist link

Kaboodle Link

8. Any Etsy stores that you would love to get something from? Any of the awesome indie sock or fiber dyers! I also *love* Spunky Eclectics yarns and fiber.  I’ve always wanted to try Yarntini, JKnits, Zen String, sKNITches, and Claudia handpaints.  And I love the good old sturdy Regia, too, especially in the 6 ply.  As far as the self patterning yarns go, though, I don’t like the faux fair-isle patterns– just the striping.  I’ve also never tried Trekking, and would love to.

9. What other crafty things are you involved in (quilting, drawing, painting)?
I dabble in embroidery and sewing, but I’m on a knitting kick right now. I also make soap.

10. What is your favorite sort of scent?
Anything orangey. I LOVE satsuma and fresh peach from the Body Shop.

11. Do you have a sweet tooth and what kind of sweets do you like best?
I love dark chocolate and anything caramel. Dark chocolate covered espresso or coffee beans are to die for! And speaking of coffee– I’m a coffee fiend.

12. What kind of music do you like?
Anything alternative-y (Killers, Modest Mouse) or singer/songwriter

13. What do you like to knit? And for whom?
Socks– for everyone! I’m on a small project kick

14. What sort of things do you like to collect?
Yarn of course, fiber

15. Do you want needles? And what kind do you prefer?
I’m pretty much set. I don’t like metal dpns at all, and they stopped making my favorite, caseins (and they don’t come in anything smaller than a 1.5 anyway).

No talking about Lost from last night– I tivo’d it and will be watching it, probably, tonight. Last week’s episode was kind of blah. I’m hoping this one is better. This week’s Heroes episode, on the other hand, was pretty good. This show has seemed to drag a bit the past few weeks, so hopefully it keeps up with the excitement. Now, I know that I joined Stashalong and am determined to knit through a bit of my stash, but if you commit for more than one month, you get one day off per month to buy yarn. I really made that one day count, so here’s what I bought on my day off:
Lime n Violet Howl of the Voonith Yarn from their Etsy shop: Lime n Violet yarn

Socks that Rock Lightweight in Love In Idleness and Puck’s Mischief:
Socks that Rock
I have tried their medium weight yarn and liked it although the socks are pretty thick, so I figured I should try the lightweight. LOVE the colors although they are tad too similar for my taste, so one will probably be a giftie at some point.

I ordered two pounds of roving from Sheep Shed Studio’s huge bale sale, and I really wish I’d ordered more. Here’s my loot– a mix of wool and a bit of mohair. They included a little bag of the red roving for free. It’s only $6.50 A POUND. Go snag some before it’s too late!

I also got my Coffee and Yarn swap package yesterday from Maia. It may have been a bit late, but she made up for it in the amazing yarn (one skein has beads!), and delicious smelling coffee. I can’t wait to brew some this weekend. Good thing I took a picture right when I opened the box ,because the chocolate is already gone ;)
Coffee and Yarn Swap

I’ve been spinning a bit as well. Here’s what’s currently on my bobbin. It’s an alpaca blend with a touch of glitter.

This is the first batch of roving that I’m not doing to much pre-drafting with. I’ve been working with sliver, and have predrafted almost everything ahead of time, but I’m trying to actually draft this as I spin so I can get the hang of it.

And this is waiting for the twist to be set:
