Stressful times at my house. I don’t feel like getting into it right now, but we’ve had a stressful few weeks here. I’m not intentionally trying to be vague, and I will share, I just have to put my thoughts down in a coherent way and it may take me a few days to do so.
In the meantime, we’ve been trying to keep busy. We had a few friends over last week for a tie dye playdate. It was great fun, and Eleanore is already asking for a repeat.

We found this amazing polyphemus caterpillar in the driveway. He was HUGE!

I kind of wished we had captured him to watch him turn into the beautiful moth they become, but in all honesty, he kind of freaked me out he was so big!
We put in a new firepit and had a great campfire over the weekend.

Saw lots of bats flying around while we sat at the campfire.

Visited the farm center at the metropark for a fun day.

And Eleanore’s favorite new chore around the house is helping with dishes. I set her up with a sink full of soapy water and she’s been washing all the breakfast and lunch dishes every day. She loves it, and I love the help.

One positive to the stress? I’ve been knitting again. I’m currently testing a pattern ~ a Halley sweater for Julie of Libelle Wool. It will be for Adelaide, but I may make one for Eleanore, too. Pictures soon!

How do you keep your tie-dyed colors from running together and making one big pile of pink shirts? We tried tie-dyeing for the first time last weekend and though they were pretty on the line, they all ended up pink in the wash. Sigh.
Yours look wonderful and it also looks like your crew had fun too.

The key is to soak in soda ash mixed in water before squirting on the dye and keeping them wet for 24 hours. Then rinse in cold first, then hot. Rinsing in cold helps to set the dye.

Thanks for the tips! I’ve give that a whirl next time.
