No news is no news

March 23, 2008

I’m still pregnant :) No big surprise there, as I didn’t really expect to go into labor yet. While it’s quite possible that I could go early (my mom went 3 weeks early with me and my MIL went almost 3 weeks early with Jason), I know it’s unlikely for a first time mom to do so.

Nesting is in full gear this Easter Sunday. I’ve already scrubbed the shower, done three loads of laundry, a load of dishes, scrubbed the stove and am now going to clean the floors in the kitchen, entry way and bathrooms.

I’ve been knitting a bit the past few days, too. I think I decided on my labor project. The baby really doesn’t need another blanket, but this one seems to be a good choice for easy knitting, while still keeping my mind somewhat occupied. I started the cast on with some bright orange cotton ease, but got distracted by this Conehead Baby hat pattern, and promptly knit it up. From the looks of it, it turned out a smidgen larger than I expected, so I think I’m going to reduce the cast on to 54 stitches and use a size 6 needle and have another go round with another colorway of Purewool. I love how it looks almost gnome-y. Pictures forthcoming!

And as soon as the baby does decide to arrive, I promise to get pictures and an update up on my blog promptly. The hospital has wi-fi access, and Jason will be bringing his laptop!

Is it time yet?

Full moon

It’s a full moon tonight, and a lot of women go into labor during a full moon. The theory is that the moon’s gravitational pull affects the amniotic fluid in much the same way as it affects the water in the sea, rivers and even the water that’s otherwise found in our bodies.

We’ll see what happens… there’s another full moon on April 20th, which would put me almost two weeks overdue (my midwife’s office will only “let” me go two weeks overdue and that will be pushing it I think).

March 14, 2008

Some days I’m so ready to meet you and others I want to keep you to myself. These are nine short months I have you all to myself, and we will never have them back. I will miss your kicks and rolling reminders that you are there, safe and sound. I’ve waited so long for you, for these moments, that it will be hard to share you with the world.

But at the same time, there is so much I want to show you, and I know there is so much you want to show and teach me.

Same old same old

Not much to report in plath land. I’ve had spurts of motivation this past week, where I’ve been able to put together some baby things like the swing, stroller and cosleeper, but for the most part I’ve been laying low and catching up on sleep and “me time.” i seem to have gotten just about everything on my lists done… bought my last few things for labor (tennis balls– no I’m not going to be playing tennis ~ they’re for massaging my back, homeopathic meds like arnica and such) so now I guess will just be a waiting game.

I haven’t even really felt much like knitting, although I am working on finishing up another pair of shorties and have worked on them while watching Punky Brewster on DVD. I never realized how silly that show is, as much as I love it. I need to pick out a labor project, but I’m just not sure what it should be. I want something easy, but we don’t need any more blankets really, or washcloths, so I’m stumped. Perhaps just another pair of shorties or longies in a bigger size? I also need to finish up my itunes playlist for labor.

Current cravings? Tiramisu from La Patisserie, Rice Krispie treats, blueberries or strawberry/banana Just Tomatoes.

Yes, I’m getting large! I think I’m getting to the point where I’m starting to freak people out when they see me in public. I’ve had several people comment that I must be almost there, when in fact I have 4 weeks until my due date!
