Boy you’d think the baby was already here!

November 29, 2007

With my lack of posting… I really have no excuse, so I won’t bore you with apologizing. Jason and I finally got around to registering for the baby. Boy was that exhausting. A little bit fun, but a little bit weird, too. I’ve always felt weird “asking” people to buy us stuff, which is how registering makes me feel.

In crafty news, I’ve been attempting to hand quilt the crib blanket my dh’s grandmother pieced, and his mom put together for me. I don’t know if I’m doing it right, but I suppose the baby won’t mind if I’m not.
Crib Quilt
We didn’t register for any bedding, since I didn’t really see a purpose for it, so this will have to suffice. Most people tell you the bumpers aren’t safe to use anyway, plus the sets are ridiculously expensive! The only one I liked at Babies R Us was $200! I’d rather people spent that amount of money on the cosleeper we really want. Plus, that will give me the motivation to get the crib quilt finished. If I keep going at this rate, it will take me at least until the baby is born to get it done!

I’ve also been finishing up a few soakers I started a couple months ago

The first uses the pattern from Punk Knitting LJ, and the second from Little Turtle Knits (LTK). I just cast on for another last night using the LTK pattern.

We start our birthing classes tonight, which I’m kind of excited about :)

Mini stockings everywhere…

Mini stockings

Today is your last day to sign up for the Handmade ornament swap! I joined two ornament swaps this year, so I decided to get a head start and start knitting. Only 8 more to go… Honestly, I’m so ready to be done with them… I have a bit of Christmas knitting to do and I have baby projects on my mind.

Speaking of baby, the ultrasound went well on Wednesday. Here’s a little peek:

We signed up for our Bradley birthing classes this week ~ they start in two weeks. I can’t believe it’s so soon!

Blue Ridge Parkway

We drove about an hour from Mooresville (the town where we live, also known as Race City, USA) last weekend to the Blue Ridge Parkway. While the color wasn’t incredibly vivid yet, the views were still amazing.

If you’d like to see more pictures I took that day, here is the tag set on Flickr.

Knitting-wise, I cast on for a Christmas present earlier this week. The fact that Halloween is over, and Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away, has me a little freaked out. I also knit up a few baby hats for an online friend who’s having twins.

I have one more striped one to knit. I’m sure you’ve seen a bazillion of them, but in case you can’t figure it out, it’s the Umbilical Hat pattern from Stitch n Bitch. Click on the pics for more details.

I had my first midwife appointment down here on Monday, and all is going well. We finally got to hear the heartbeat. My OB in Michigan was a little ultrasound happy (which makes me uncomfortable), so while we got to see the heartbeat before, we never got to hear it since his ultrasound machine did not have sound. Our big ultrasound with the anatomy check to make sure everything is ok with all the organs is next Wednesday. Most people find out the gender at that ultrasound, but we’ve decided it will be a surprise :)
