Happy Paczki Day!

Don’t know the joys of the Paczki? It’s a huge thing here in Metro Detroit. I had never heard of them until I moved here, but heck, I think we could all use an excuse to eat a paczki or twelve. (you can read more about them here)

I’ve been feeling a little uninspired on the knitting front lately. Perhaps it’s all the sugar and fat, but in all seriousness, I’ve been feeling that way for a while. I really haven’t been knitting much. Sure, I knit a round or ten while watching Season 2 of Nip/Tuck with Jason, but there hasn’t been a project that’s screamed out to be knit in a while. I’m trying though.

I love Gidget Casts On’s neckwarmer from this pattern. I also dig Starsky, though I only have 5 hanks of Knitpicks Sierra in Tide languishing in my stash instead of the necessary 10. Jason has even entered the knitting arena (no, he hasn’t learned to knit, although I really wish he would!) and asked for a pair of fingerless gloves a la this pattern. I just feel eh though.

Perhaps the new Magknits will inspire me when it arrives. I haven’t been able to read the new Spring IK. My subscription expired, and I haven’t been able to find it in the stores. I need my inspiration fix!

Catnip Crazy

We took a little shopping trip at the pet store on Friday and picked up some a few new catnip toys for Patches (and of course some things for Marzipan, too; we love spoiling our pets). Do you think he liked them? LOL He laid like that for a good 15 minutes.

I do have a FO to unveil:

and have already started a new pair using Knitpicks Dancing. Managed to get into the gussett while watching Saw 2 (liked the orignal better) and disc 3 of Nip/Tuck Season 2 (strange strange episode on that disc!) yesterday.

It was so cold this weekend, but we did venture out into the frigid temps. Yesterday we checked the temp oustide around noon and it was 5 below zero. Brrrr. My parents and brother came up for Saturday, though, so we headed off to Frankenmuth for their famous roast chicken dinners (sides for me as I’m a vegetarian of course), some fudge and salt water taffy, and a little yarn. I ran into Rapunzel’s and picked up some more sock yarn. I really don’t like that store much– they’ve never been nice to me. Ignore me completely, in fact, while chatting up the “older” more “wealthy looking” customers. Grrrr.

It’s Regia 6– I’m thinking they’ll be another pair of the shorties I have pictured below in the blue stripes.

I’m in a sock funk. It’s strange, but I started off 2005 with the same obsession. Must have something to do with the cold weather. I’ve been in a bit of a winter blah the past couple weeks; haven’t been reading my bloglines list, and haven’t even been checking out the knitting boards. I’m trying to catch up a little today though, and pull myself up a bit. Hopefully spring will be just around the corner!

My boring update ;)

Not much going on in Plath-land. I’ve continued to knit away on my socks. Here’s a picture– I just finished the first sock yesterday, and am starting the gussett on it’s match.

Not much else to report. I wish we got the snow that the Northeast just got; I would love to be snowed in! We do still have about 5 inches on the ground though.
I have plans to start a few secret projects in the coming weeks… Can’t say when I’ll unveil them, but hopefully not too long from now :)

See, even Marzi thinks I’m boring:

I stole this from the Yarn Junkie; I thought it was really cool. It creates a graphic from the words on your blog. Here’s mine:

February 6, 2006

Just a little tiny post to say I’m still alive. I’m a little preoccupied with other things right now, but I am getting a little knitting done. Still working on the sock I mentioned in my last post– on the gusset right now.

We got a big snowfall over the weekend– 6 inches. I LOVE it!

Cross your fingers for me– after this week, I’m going to be stopping substitute teaching for the year, and will be temping full time again. Ugh. We need the money though, so I know it’s the right decision.
